Hirshfield’s is helping bring color to Japan
Local paint manufacturer and retailer, Hirshfield’s, has been selling paint to Japanese retailers for over eight years now. Sales have seen a big boost in the last few months due to post-tsunami rebuilding and changing tastes. Jason Boedigheimer, operations director for Hirshfield’s Paint Manufacturing, says orders to Japan have easily increased 100 fold since the March tsunami. You can read more about HIrshfield’s relationship with Japanese paint retailers in this recent article in the Star Tribune.
My Day With Olympic Gold Medalist Frank Shorter
One of the best parts about working in public relations is the people you get to meet. I had the great pleasure the other day of meeting 1972 Olympic Marathon Gold Medalist, Frank Shorter. I guess saying I got to “meet” him would be an understatement. I actually got to spend the entire day with him on a media tour marathon.

Wag, Walk and Run Hosted by Helping Paws
This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend, and get video of, the annual Wag, Walk & Run Event, hosted by Helping Paws, at Purgatory Creek in Eden Prairie. This was the second year I was able to go, and I am always impressed with the turnout. The rain held off just long enough to keep everyone dry, and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Make-A-Wish Minnesota Wish Ball 2011
For a child battling a life-threatening medical condition, it can sometimes be hard to find a “positive” to focus on – something to look forward to while they endure tests and screenings and surgeries. This is where Make-A-Wish comes in. The Make-A-Wish foundation is the nation’s largest wish-granting organization and grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
These wishes give kids something to focus on besides their medical condition. I was lucky enough to experience the power of a wish at the Make-A-Wish Wish Ball last weekend. The Wish Ball celebrates the children who have been selected to receive a wish and also raises money to continue the organization’s mission of granting wishes.
