Archiver’s Launches Search for Stories of Friendship & Scrapbooking
Sarah was nine years old when she was diagnosed with epilepsy. How does a fourth grader explain such a complex disease to all her friends and classmates? How does she explain why she hasn’t been in class, and where she has been instead? For Sarah, the answer was a scrapbook. Scrapbooking not only provided a much-needed creative release, but it allowed her to share her experiences with her friends – including her hospital stay, diagnosis and facts about epilepsy.
Memory preservation has provided similar opportunities for many people in the past decade since Archiver’s opened its first store. To honor the important relationships – with both family and friends - that often develop through scrapbooking, and in celebration of its 10th anniversary, the memory store is hosting an online contest, which kicks off Nov. 12-15 and runs through Dec. 31.
Contest Details
Archiver’s is looking for stories of how scrapbooking or memory preservation has impacted and developed relationships between friends and family. Applicants can send a short story (less than 500 words), along with a photo, to contest@archiversonline.com. Archiver’s will review the entries and identify 10 finalists, whose stories will be posted on its Facebook fan page. Fans will vote for their favorite story to determine the winner, which will be announced in the beginning of January. The winner will receive a Scrapbooking weekend for four at their nearest Archiver’s location, plus a $100 Archiver’s gift card! The prize includes reserved seating for four in Archiver’s workroom all weekend long including our Friday and Saturday night Scrap Mania event, plus meals, treats and goodie bags!
“We’re thrilled to be celebrating our 10th anniversary,” said Brian Olmstead, Archiver’s co-founder and executive vice president. “We’ve developed relationships with our customers over the past decade and they’ve become our friends. We can’t wait to hear how scrapbooking has inspired their own relationships.”
About Archiver’s & Our 10th Anniversary
Archiver’s is the nation’s premier photo memory store, offering creative ways to organize, display and preserve photographs. Its stores also offer workshops and classes designed to help display photographs, preserve memories and expand skills with new techniques. It is a Minnesota-based company with 44 locations across the nation.
Even in this difficult economy, Archiver’s is continuing to grow, evidence of how important sharing stories is to its customers’ lives. “Archiver’s – and scrapbooking in general – has grown tremendously over the last decade, and we plan to continue doing so,” said Olmstead. “Scrapbooking provides a unique way for people to bond with their families and friends and produce something wonderful at the same time.”
In addition to the contest, Archiver’s will celebrate its anniversary in each of its 44 stores, including special promotions and more than $1,000 in prizes given away at each location from Nov. 12-15.
