Mark Buehrle on The Late Show - Video of the Week
So sue me. I’m still a sports fan, but that’s what happens when you spend a majority of your professional life covering sports. Last week, the Chicago White Sox superstar pitcher, Mark Buehrle pitched a perfect game. No hits, no walks, no batter reached first base. 27 batters, every one went down. It’s remarkable, in fact, it’s only been done in the history of the game 18 times. Imagine that, 18 times dating back to 1880!
Buehrle appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman to do the Top Ten List this past week. Proud moment for us in Minnesota - the segment was shot at the Metrodome, home of the Twins.

Engage Your Customers with Dynamic Web Content
If David Letterman had the same show every single night with the same monologue, the same guest, the same Top 10, would you watch every night? If you saw it once, would you sit through it again? If you checked back a month later, would you watch it again? This is a question that was posed during a webinar that I participated in the other day. The answer to these questions is NO WAY!
The Not-So Slow Death of the News Release
I had an interesting conversation with another former television news reporter today about the good old news release. When I asked if she ever scanned news releases for a story idea she quickly and decisively replied, “no.” I knew that answer was coming. She said that in the news rooms in which she worked the assignment editors usually picked up the news releases. Presumably, they then stuck them in a day file where the releases of any future value live for another day. The sad thing is, many releases never see the day file.
Make Sure Your Video News Release Isn’t Television Trash
When I started StoryTeller in 2005, part of our mission was to help bring newsworthy content to television stations. I knew that the newsrooms were shrinking and I knew that our clients, at times, had content that would be worthy of certain newscasts. I set out to shoot b-roll of our client events and bring them to television stations for air.
A Grand Entrance Becomes a YouTube Hit!
There are a lot of people doing wacky things to try to become a YouTube hit, but this one worked. Contrived, but fun. Check out this video and see if you’ve got the guts to try it at your wedding! You’ll have fun watching this video of the week.

Going Ga-Ga Over Green Screen Technology with Evian
The technology is certainly not new, but what Evian has done with their latest ad campaign brings big smiles to my face. I posted this on my Facebook page last week, but thought I’d pass it on to you here as well. Enjoy our Video of the Week!
Third Party Endorsements: Beyond Mainstream Media
Third party endorsements. Our clients love third party endorsements, especially when that “third” party is the media. For years, that’s what PR professionals have gone after - the coveted third party endorsement. Morning news? Great. Daily paper? Fantastic. Evening news? Wonderful. Oprah? Oprah? Somebody get me the paper bag and hand fan, I’m feeling dizzy. I should say right now, I value all of the above as meaningful results for the hard work of our team. But with the growing use and understanding of social media the best third party endorsements are not necessarily from the news media.
