Tapemark Charity Pro-Am Celebrates 38 Years, $6 Million in Donations
This summer, Minnesota’s best professional and amateur golfers will come together and help the Tapemark Charity Pro-Am celebrate its 38th year. The tournament, held June 12-14 at Southview Country Club in West St. Paul, has raised over $6 million for local charities since its inception in 1972.
“The Twin Cities community has been so supportive of the Tapemark Charity Pro-Am, helping us to raise millions of dollars for local charities,” said Phil Callen, President of the Tapemark Charity Pro-Am. “The commitment and generosity of the professional and amateur athletes in this state is unmatched.”
The 60-team tournament partners one professional golfer with three amateurs. The top 36 teams after two days of competition advance to the finals on Sunday, June 14. All proceeds from the event go directly to local organizations that provide advocacy and support for people with developmental and learning disabilities.
For the fourth consecutive year, the Anderson Insurance and Investment Agency is the presenting sponsor of the Pro-Am. “We are thrilled to be involved with the Tapemark Charity Pro-Am and to help the Twin Cities charities it benefits,” said Shaun Irwin, president of Anderson Agency.

Tapemark Pro-Am – Looking Back
In 1972, Bob Klas, Sr., chairman and founder of the Tapemark Company and Pat Cody, Sr., then vice president of the Tapemark Company, put their organizational skills and love of golf to work for a charitable cause. As the father of two children living with disabilities, Klas had seen first hand the growing financial needs of social agencies struggling to support and encourage people with developmental and learning disabilities.
The Tapemark Charity Pro-Am Tournament started that year and has since become one of the largest and longest-running events of its kind in the country. Since its inception, some of Minnesota’s greatest golfers have won the tournament, including PGA Tour professional Tom Lehman, George Shortridge, Dave Tentis, Don Berry, Mike Barge and John Carlson.
Agencies receiving funding from the the Pro-Am are Arc Greater Twin Cities, The Arc of Minnesota, the Learning Disabilities Program of Children’s Home Society and Family Services, Dakota Communities, and ProAct.
