It’s been an interesting week of weather for this 3rd Annual Play Golf Minnesota Week.  Today is Get Fit for Golf Day and participating courses will have either club fitting (get it, get “fit?”) or they’ll have some things to help you get your body in shape for the golf season.  Heaven knows after a long winter it feels good to get out and exercise a bit, but you don’t want to pull any muscles!

Tomorrow there’s a junior girls golf clinic at Rush Creek.  The PGA Minnesota Section partners with the Minnesota Women’s Golf Association to put on the event.  In the two years that this clinic has been a part of Play Golf Minnesota Week it’s been really well received.  We’ve had about 200 junior girls come out each year and it’s a lot of fun with some great instruction.  Now, if only the weather holds up!  Look for highlights on the news Saturday night.

Sunday we wrap up the week with Family Day.  It’s a great day to get the kids out to the course.  Many, like Rush Creek, will have a “Kids Play Free” deal when they’re joined by a paying adult.  What a terrific course on which to teach your kid to play the game.  There may be restrictions with time at some of the facilities so call ahead.

If you’re driving around with the radio on this weekend you can catch some of our golf friends on the radio. Tom Ryan from the Minnesota Golf Association is going to be on KFAN radio 1130AM with Dan Cole on Saturday and then you’ll want to check out John Valliere, the past president of the MGA on WCCO 830AM between 2pm and 3pm Sunday.

If you haven’t been out on the course, get out there.  Spring is springing and the courses are coming into shape. Happy Play Golf Minnesota Week!
