Earlier this year, a client, who is also a good friend of mine contacted me regarding the Tapemark Charity Pro Am, a 37-year old golf event benefiting people with learning and developmental disabilities, of which he is president.  The tournaments presenting sponsor, The Anderson Agency, was entering its final year of sponsorship and my client was concerned they might not renew their sponsorship.  He was interested in knowing what StoryTeller could do to help secure the Anderson Agency for another three years.

When Tiger Woods turned pro in 1996, he announced the news to the media by simply saying, “Hello World,” in his news release. So, when our website developer Randall Larson co-owner of Thorn Creative, set up some demo blogs for us, one of which was titled “Hello World,” I had a good chuckle, remembering the simplicity, yet power, of that message. If only we could sign $60 million in endorsements as Tiger did right after he made his announcement!

October 14, 2008 - Instead of fighting crowds and digging deeper into their pockets for the latest “it” toy, more and more shoppers are looking for that perfect gift created to last.  Known for its high quality toys and playthings, Creative Kidstuff is anticipating heavy sales of top-quality toy and gift items this holiday season.  However, quality doesn’t necessarily mean costly; Creative Kidstuff has well-crafted products for any budget.

Earlier this year we had the opportunity to partner with one of our favorite non-profit organizations, Fraser. In the past we had produced two videos for Fraser, one, an agency video that was shown at their annual benefit in 2006, the other a video that explains the value of music therapy when working with people with autism. Both are projects of which we are extremely proud.

In April of this year, our friend Kari Dahlstrom, Fraser’s Director of Marketing and Communications came to StoryTeller to see if we would videotape their inaugural “Walk for Autism” at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. Candidly she said she wasn’t sure what she was going to do with the video, but felt as though the event should be documented.

The Changing Ways of Public Relations

I recently had a discussion with a principal of a successful Twin Cities public relations agency regarding PR and the internet.  Words like “Search Engine Optimization” and “online video content,” seemed to confuse this highly successful executive leading this person to immediately confess that they doesn’t get involved with those things.  Technology was not an area in which this person felt comfortable and language such as this were not part of the agency’s lexicon.  I left the conversation feeling that if we, public/media relations professionals, are not actively trying to help our clients reach their customers on the world wide web we are doing them a tremendous disservice. › Continue reading
